Coda is an advanced text editor for coders and programmers, featuring syntax highlighting for 11 different language and document types, and many powerful features to help you work faster.
The Resource Panel displays 4 tabbed panes which give you instant access to your files and folders, a clipboard history list, a flexible Codesnips code librarian, and a Code Explorer pane that provides one-click access to any section of the document.
Because most programmers find themselves working with many different programs and a variety of coding languages, Coda includes a range of tools to provide fast access to other applications and help files. For example, you can associate different help files with different programming languages: as you work, just press F10 for context-sensitive help. A separate Help Files menu lets you keep shortcuts to any help files just a couple of clicks away.
In addition, Coda allows you to define Run commands that can execute any program with a single click, passing switches and parameters (such as the current document or directory) if needed.
Of course, you don’t want to waste time running other applications if you can avoid it, so Coda includes a few extra tools you might need. A Color Translator makes it easy to convert between RGB, hex and HTML named colors (as well as finding the nearest web-safe palette match); you can preview all common image formats (and a few less-common ones) and check their dimensions by double-clicking a file in the Resource Panel; you can create templates to use as the basis for new documents; and Coda can open a choice of Windows Explorer views of the current folder when you need to do some file management.
